Predict Future Trading Card Sets

In the world of sports card trading, having insider knowledge on upcoming sets and collections is greatly beneficial for sellers and collectors alike. For collectors, being able to predict future trading card sets allows you to prepare funds for your must-buy sets. For sports card dealers, on the other hand, getting your hands on valuable information helps in attracting potential buyers.

Easier said than done though, because getting information about future trading card sets isn’t as simple as checking online forums and catching up on the latest blogs. You also have to know where to get information straight from the horse’s mouth, so they say.

To help you out, here are the top three sources you can visit to learn as much info as you can

3 Predict Future Trading Card Sets Reliable Sources

Card Company’s Official Website

Where else to get information on upcoming releases but from the company’s website, of course! Official company sites usually have a section dedicated to news about the brand, and for trading card companies, this usually includes press releases and other updates hinting at future products.

If you’re looking for updates and articles that can give you information on the next release from Topps, Panini Group, and Upper Deck Company, for example, check out their websites from time to time.

Social Media Pages

Sometimes, websites are too much to manage, especially when your audience prefers quicker updates and bite-size information. This makes social media platforms the other go-to for online information on future sports cards that will be on the market.

Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are often what trading card companies use to release teasers on their next batch of products. Social media pages managed by forecasters and avid collectors can also be wonderful sources of information. Consider following official pages because who knows? Some of these pages might have insider info that not many card traders know about.

USPTO’s Website

The United States Patent and Trademark Office’s website is a treasure trove of information for future releases not just for sports cards but also for other products. The agency publishes information on its website pertaining to all trademark applications in the US.

If you’re familiar with how trademarks go, companies apply for them to somehow “reserve” a specific name for their product. In their applications, they include details that describe the products they want trademarked, as well as the category they fall in.

For example, a 2011 application filed by Topps for a product referred to as “Optimum Ink” was released on the USPTO website. The details include the name and address of the trademark owner as well as the words “standard character mark,” pertaining to the potential design of the upcoming product.

From this information alone, anyone who knows the basics of the sports cards industry would understand that Topps could be gearing for a product release of a character card.

Aside from these three online sources, offline information is also of equal value. You might know of a reporter, a blogger, or a collector with connections to trading card companies. If you can connect with them, you might be able to gather the information you need for future sales and case breaks.
